Mica tape for rotating machine has following types:

1. Resin rich Mica tape
2. Resin poor (VPI) Mica tape
3. Polyester Glass Mica (P.G.M) tape
4. Polyester Glass Mica Polyester (P.G.M.P) tape
5. Polyester Uni-directional-glass Mica Polyester (P.G.M.T) tape
   
   

Resin rich Mica tape: It is made of muscovite mica paper (Calcined or un-Calcined) impregnated with Modified novalac epoxy resin (F-class tape) or Modified Silicon varnish (H-class tape) & bonded with various reinforcement materials like Fiber Glass cloth, polyester film, Polyimide film. When resin rich mica tape is subjected to heat & pressure, the resin flows & cures to make void free insulation.

Resin poor (VPI) Mica tape: The tape consist of muscovite mica paper impregnated with small amount of epoxy resin and a glass cloth backing as support. It has excellent resin impregnation ability for VPI process.

Polyester Glass Mica (P.G.M) tape: It consist of 3 layers, one each of Polyester film, Glass cloth and Mica paper sandwiched between the two and bonded together with polyester resin.

Polyester Glass Mica Polyester (P.G.M.P) tape: it consist of 4 layers, flexible tape consist of muscovite mica paper impregnated with glass cloth as support material and on both side laminated with polyester film

Polyester Uni-directional-glass Mica Polyester (P.G.M.T) tape: this tape is four-ply insulation tape consisting of muscovite mica, unidirectional thread as longitudinal reinforcement and PET film on both side of laminates.
